Battlefield 6 is rumored to be in the works and releasing later this year so let’s break down what we know about Battlefield 6 so far.

Battlefied 6 Will Have Bigger Player Limits

According to rumors, Battlefield 6 will feature a Battle Royale mode (which will be handed over to Criterion Games to make) and will allow up to 128 players on each map. This is designed to give you a fully immersive experience to make you feel like you are a part of the battlefield experience in a massive warzone. This will also help you to feel like no matter how many players are in the game, you will always have an objective to complete.

It Will Have Destructive Environments

It looks like Levolution (a concept introduced in Battlefield 4) will be back with a triumphant return. In the new Battlefield, it is rumored that the game will feature fully destructive environments throughout Cities and on various maps. So much so, you can level entire buildings after giving them enough damage.

Dynamic Environmental Changes

Speaking of destruction, Battlefield will also feature environmental destructions such as tornadoes, sandstorms, rain, storms, and potentially even lava. Dynamic weather isn’t exactly a new feature for the Battlefield series as storms and sandstorms have appeared in previous titles such as Battlefield 4 and the most recent, Battlefield 5.

The Next Battlefield is Set in Modern Day with Futuristic Elements in Certain Parts

Battlefield 6 will be set in the future but only by a couple of years. This will combine modern day weapons with some futuristic weapons as well. If you played Battlefield: Hardline or some of the DLC Maps from Battlefield 4, you will know what we are talking about. Anyone else remember that canister thing on the snow map that would launch of the side of the mountain?

The Next Battlefield is a Reboot?

According to some rumors, Battlefield 6 may just drop the 6 from the title and will be simply called Battlefield. Battlefield will be a soft reboot of the franchise and be taking the Battlefield franchise in a new direction, very similar to how Call of Duty recently released a new Modern Warfare with the same title as a previous entry in their franchise.

Battlefield will be a mixture of Battlefield 3 & 4

The next battlefield will be a mixture of Battlefield 3 and 4 mechanics, map designs, and weapons. So much so, sources are claiming that the next Battlefield is Battlefield 3 on steroids. Which we don’t mind in the slightest considering Battlefield 3 is our favorite entry in the franchise!

Who is Making it?

The majority of the game will be made by EA’s DiCE team who made the previous titles in the Battlefield franchise and will also be harnessing the power of the new Frostbite 4 engine. The Battle Royale Mode will be made by Criterion Games, who previously worked on the Burnout Franchise as well as the FPS Classic, Black. Most recently, Criterion Games also worked on Star Wars Battlefront 2.

When Does it Release and On What Platforms?

If everything goes according to plan, the next Battlefield will release sometime in Q4 of 2021. This means it could appear as a Christmas Holiday release, somewhere between October and December.

In terms of platforms, it will be on, it’s pretty much a given that it would appear on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Whether it appears on previous-gen consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One, we are unclear about at this point.
