With the start of a Season Three: Storm Chasers I’ve been drawn to “the Cycle” by epic games. A free to play battleroyal with a heavy focus on over tasks and survivability with the added element is Pvp with other prospectors. Dubbed by Yager as a ” competitive quest shooter” and “PVEVP”.
The idea of the game being you are a prospector living on a space station above fortuna III on the space station called Prospect Station. Your aim is to collect resources and Intel from the planets surface below before the storm circles around on you called “The Cycle”.
The cycle runs games of 20 minutes. Before dropping you will choose from one of three factions: Independent Civilian Advisory (ICA), Osiris, and Korolev, offering rewards that change as you level up higher bringing greater rewards to use during your time down on the surface of Fortuna III.
From the drop you will begin collecting materials to complete contracts for the faction you choose.
These can concist of mining minerals while fighting off insectoid like beings, placing down gas vents, killing certain mins to collect their flesh for science to capturing areas like power stations and turning them on or Intel relays and even trains carrying valuable resources.
Of course PvP plays a role in this game. You can try and kill everyone you come across which may be harder than you think. Or team up with them which will loose you your sheild but gain you an ally in the fight to survive fortuna III.
Of my own personal play time during The Cycle I have played solo, duo, squad and ranked squad games. Finding the most enjoyment out of squad games and playing with our community on discord.
This games has a great feel for pve and the added element of PvP really sits well and is a game I find my self playing match’s continuously.
So whether your a fan of pve or PvP fortuna III is waiting for you. To test you and knock you around with it’s radiation storm while it laughs as you fly away on a ship back to the saftey of The Prospector, that is if the other prospectors on the planet don’t kill you first.
Justin’s changes:
With the start of a new season, I’ve been drawn to “The Cycle” developed by YAGER Development GmbH. A free to play battle royale with a heavy focus on completing tasks and survivability over defeating other players known as “Prospectors”. Dubbed by Yager as a ” competitive quest shooter” and “PVEVP”.
The core idea of the game sees you play as a prospector living on a space station above Fortuna III called “Prospect Station”. Your main goal is to collect resources and intel from the planet’s surface below before the storm circles around on you called “The Cycle”.
The Cycle’s average games last for around 20 minutes each, which provides for quick sessions of shooting and looting. Before dropping into the planet, you will choose from one of three factions: Independent Civilian Advisory (ICA), Osiris, or Korolev, with each offering rewards that change as you level up and earn yourself greater rewards to use during your time down on the surface of Fortuna III.
From the moment you drop in you will begin collecting materials to complete contracts for the faction you chose at the start of the match.
These can consist of mining minerals while fighting off insectoid like beings, placing down gas vents, killing certain mins? to collect their flesh for science, capturing areas like power stations and turning them on, or intel relays and even trains carrying valuable resources.
Of course, whilst there is a focus on PvE, PvP does still play an important role in this game. You can try and kill everyone you come across if you dare, which may be harder than you think another option is to team up with them which will force you to sacrifice your shield but will gain you an ally in the fight to survive Fortuna III.
During my playtime during The Cycle, I have played solo, duo, squad and ranked squad games. Finding the most enjoyment out of squad games and playing with our community on discord.
This game has a great feel for PvE with the added element of PvP, which balances well and is a game I find my self constantly returning to for some more looting glory.
